Transcription: By regularly growing different crops in a field it's possible to reduce both disease and the amount of fertiliser required. This is called rotation. A typical rotation starts with planting root crops such as turnips, mangoes or sugar beet. These crops are harvested in the autumn and the land is ploughed for sowing barley. Once the barley has been harvested the land is seeded with a grass and clover mix that can be used for grazing animals or for hay making. This is a temporary grassland or lay.
